Our Story
Ocean Tribe Scuba began in 2011, on the shores of Havelock… not as a business, but as a shared calling.
Jackson and Dickson Poayasay—blood brothers from the Karen community of the Andaman Islands—carried generations of knowledge shaped by the sea. Mandy, an engineer and robotics designer from Pune, brought a different kind of understanding—curiosity, precision, and a deep respect for learning. Different journeys, guided by the same love for the ocean.
Together, they built Ocean Tribe on trust, patience, and respect for the water. A place where the ocean becomes the teacher, people become students, and everyone belongs. From first-time divers taking their very first breath underwater to professionals choosing the sea as a way of life, Ocean Tribe grew into a home.
Today, Ocean Tribe Scuba stands as a pillar of the local dive community. It has shaped generations of dive professionals—people who carry the values learned here into oceans around the world. For many, this is where confidence was built, careers began, and lifelong bonds were formed.
And it remains just that—a place where strangers arrive… and leave as family.

The Original Tribe
Mandy
Founder
Originally from Pune, India, Mandar Vilas Devtale aka Mandy comes from an engineering and robotics background, bringing precision, problem-solving, and structure into the world of diving. His curiosity and deep respect for learning drew him to the ocean, where his passion for diving steadily grew.
Mandy founded Ocean Tribe Scuba, helping shape it into a professionally run dive centre grounded in safety, training, and consistency. His technical mindset and calm approach continue to support both new divers and professionals, ensuring strong foundations beneath the surface.
DicksonÂ
Co-Founder
Born and brought up in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dickson Poayesay aka Shifu grew up with the ocean as home. Raised by the sea, his passion for diving came naturally, shaped by everyday life in the water and generations of ocean wisdom.
In 2011, he co-founded Ocean Tribe Scuba with a simple belief—diving should feel safe, honest, and welcoming. He also discovered Dickson’s Pinnacle, a dive site that reflects his deep connection with the ocean.
Today, Dickson continues to dive, teach, and mentor, keeping Ocean Tribe grounded in community, care, and respect for the sea,

Born and brought up in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Jackson Poayasay aka Master grew up with the ocean as home. Raised by the sea, his understanding of water, navigation, and marine life developed naturally, shaping his lifelong passion for diving.
Jackson co-founded Ocean Tribe Scuba with a strong focus on safety, skill, and respect for the ocean. During his early years in the water, he discovered Jackson’s Bar, a dive site known for its marine life.
Today, Jackson remains an integral part of Ocean Tribe—diving, guiding, and passing on local ocean knowledge that defines the Tribe’s spirit.
